A Stay for the Baird Family – August 20–22
Cabin 5 | Sure Game Resort | Cancer Sucks Cabin Giveaway
Amanda Baird and her family joined us at Sure Game Resort from August 20th to 22nd for a much-needed getaway through our Cancer Sucks Cabin Giveaway.Amanda’s message touched our hearts, and we’re honored to share her words below with her permission:

"Hello. I want to start off by saying thank you for your giveaway. To put it nicely, cancer sucks — but kindness during it really helps. My family unfortunately currently has cancer affecting our lives. On May 9th of this year, my husband Damian was diagnosed with lymphoma. About a week after that diagnosis, we found out the type of lymphoma he has — Burkitt lymphoma — which is a rare form for adults to get, with only about 1–2% of cases being adults. It's very aggressive and can make tumors double in size very quickly."
"Because the treatment is so intense, he has to go once a month to Duluth for 4–5 day hospital stays, along with spinal chemo once or twice a month, and many appointments in Deer River. With everything going on, we don’t get much time together as a family."
"On Father’s Day, Damian spent most of the day finishing up chemo. By the time we got home around 6:30pm, he was so tired and not feeling well that we couldn’t even celebrate. Getting to spend some time together relaxing and enjoying the outdoors while we still can is amazing. With all cancers, you don’t really know how much time you have — so making these memories now means everything."
We were so grateful to host the Baird family in Cabin 5 and give them even just a few days to rest, reconnect, and enjoy the peace of nature together. This is why we do what we do — because cancer doesn’t pause for holidays, weekends, or milestones. But kindness can create space to breathe.Thank you, Amanda and Damian, for letting us be a part of your journey. 💛We’re keeping your family in our thoughts.
