Their story spans decades — and a deep connection to northern Minnesota that began long ago.

"Hello. I’m messaging about the cancer weekend giveaway. I’d like to nominate my parents, Aric and Ina Heide. We are originally from Indiana, and when we were kids, we vacationed at your resort several times over the years. We fell in love with northern Minnesota and eventually made the move up."

"Fast forward 20 years to today… My mom has been recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She’s had several surgeries to remove and test lumps. Just last week, she made the very difficult decision to remove both breasts to prevent the spread and constant worry."

"She spent the past week recovering at my sister’s, who helped with aftercare. She was finally able to get her ports removed and return home this past Friday. It’s been especially hard on them both, and I know they could really use a little getaway together."

Thanks to the support of this mission, we were honored to welcome Aric and Ina to the resort in Cabin 5 for some time to simply breathe, rest, and heal.

They have been through a lot — emotionally, physically, and mentally. And while we can’t take that away, we hope their cabin stay gave them a chance to relax and reconnect in a place that already held memories for them.
