Her story was shared with us by her mother, Kim, whose love and pride was clear in every word:

"Hi, I just saw the post for Cabin 6 nominations. I would like to tell you about my daughter. She is 22 and finished her treatment for cancer (melanoma) last fall. Despite needing treatment for over a year, she continued going to her college classes and working. She graduated this spring with honors and her degree in Education."

"In the fall, she’ll be moving to St. Paul to get her teaching certification for Montessori schools. I am very proud of her and would be so grateful if this opportunity was available to her and her boyfriend."

"She just keeps pushing through — because, as Sara says, ‘What else are you going to do?’ Not only has my daughter beat cancer, but she was also born with Spina Bifida, so her life has been full of challenges. Still, she continues to try to make a difference for others."

"I understand there are a lot of terrible things in the world and that someone else may benefit more from a break from the daily struggle. I just want to thank you for thinking of others."

After their stay, Sara sent us this beautiful message:"Thank you Alicia and Aarron for gifting myself and my other half Cabin 6 through the Cancer Sucks Giveaway! We had the most relaxing weekend together away from the busy demands of life. From the most beautiful sunsets to the clearest night skies from the docks and around the fire pit, we were truly blessed to be able to create special moments together in a beautiful and peaceful place."Sara’s strength and resilience are truly inspiring. She embodies what it means to rise above challenges and keep moving forward with grace and purpose. We were honored to host Sara and are grateful to be even a small part of her story. 💛
