💛 Schwindel’s Story
Cabin 2 | September 5–7, 2025 | Sure Game Wilderness Resort
The Schwindels were some of the nicest people we’ve had the honor of welcoming. Their kindness and warmth touched everyone they met during their stay. While they deeply missed their two beautiful daughters back home, this getaway gave them a much-needed chance to rest, breathe, and reconnect. Their story is a reminder of the strength of family and the love that carries us through the hardest times.
In March 2025, my husband Trevin was diagnosed with Stage 3 T-Cell Lymphoma. He began treatment right away and endured one round of the grueling “red devil” chemo, only for us to learn that the doctors had gotten it wrong. His real diagnosis was B-Cell Lymphoma, a much rarer form, and treatment was suddenly put on hold. We were told it wasn’t aggressive, and that he might live without therapy for a while.
For months, we held onto that fragile hope. But on July 10th, his follow-up PET scan showed the cancer had started growing again. Now, doctors fear it may have mutated, and Trevin is once again facing a biopsy. Every appointment feels like a rollercoaster—one day lifting him up, the next leaving him crushed. Because his cancer is so rare, even the specialists are still learning about it as we go.
Trevin first became sick in December 2024, just after retiring from the military following 20 years of service. He was looking forward to finally having weekends free to spend with our two daughters, but instead he’s had to spend so much of this year in hospitals and waiting rooms. Cancer stole the simple joys he’d been looking forward to after a lifetime of service.
Through it all, his strength amazes me. He keeps going for me and for our girls, even on the hardest days. This journey has been filled with uncertainty, but also with love, resilience, and gratitude for the moments of peace we do find together.

My husband and I were recently gifted a free weekend stay here after his cancer diagnosis, and it was such a blessing. Any business offering something like this is truly incredible, because it shows how much they care about families going through hard times.
The owners and their family were kind, friendly, and down to earth. We felt welcomed right away and even had wonderful conversations with locals we met during our stay. The cabin was adorable—clean, cozy, and so well maintained. We loved having a full kitchen for little comforts, like making a pizza for a late-night snack.
The views around the resort were absolutely spectacular, and it’s clear how much care goes into keeping the whole property beautiful. And the beds—so comfortable—we finally got the kind of good night’s sleep we’ve been missing.
This stay gave us more than just a getaway; it gave us peace, comfort, and memories we’ll always hold onto. Thank you for your generosity—we will definitely be back!
